Since being signed by Island Records and the release of their new album ‘Changing Tune’, the four lads from Watford definitely found their way to success. After listening to their new record I must say that Lower Than Atlantis is the most promising rock band I’ve seen in a long time. It’s just a matter of time before the mainstream will notice these guys. Changing tune is a worthy follow up to their last album ‘World Record’. A slightly different approach is noticeable. Their sound has matured and it’s easier for a broader audience to listen to. It still has the typical LTA characteristics you are familiar with. However, I kind of predict longtime LTA fans to be a little disappointed. Changing Tune is not as heavy and sounds more mainstream than its predecessor ‘World Record'. The album kicks off with a slightly mellow build up when suddenly their singer Mike Duce bursts into the fray with his unique and characteristic voice. It definitely sets the tone for their main single ‘Love Someone Else’ to blow away the listeners. Once again, the thing that sets this album apart from all the other new releases is their catchy sound. Almost every song on Changing Tune has the ability to be stuck in your head for ages. They definitely found inspiration in groundbreaking artists from the past. For example Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins. If you listen to ‘Normally Strange’ and ‘I Know A Song That Will Get On Your Nerves’ You know what I mean. Love Someone Else, Normally Strange and Go On Strike were already introduced to the public. But apart from those songs I recommend checking out ‘Wars With Words’ ‘PMA’ and ‘Scared Of The Dark’. The last one is a beautiful ballad which will touch you from the very beginning. Dear reader, it doesn’t matter which genre you like and which you dislike. Trust me on this one. You need to check this one out. I know for a fact that It’ll appeal to you in some way. I haven’t been this excited in a long time. Changing tune will officially be released on the 1st of October. I can’t wait to get my copy in the mail.
